Regional Express (Rex) has been voted by the Australian Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards Survey as the “Best Regional Airline”.
The Australian Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards survey was conducted over the past three months and received nominations from over 1,000 readers on what they consider to be the best in Australia.
The awards are the only consumer awards for tourism in Australia. At the awards ceremony held last night in Sydney, Rex was chosen as Best Regional Airline ahead of four other nominees including QantasLink and Skywest.
Receiving the award on behalf of Rex was Rex's Chief Operating Officer Chris Hine. Expressing delight at the award, he said, “Rex has for many years now been recognised as the best regional airline in the world by international aviation experts. However it is especially pleasing to be recognised by our very own customers for our steadfast dedication to the regional communities in providing reliable and safe regional air travel with good old-fashioned country hospitality.”
“This award is only made possible through the hard work of all our staff and I would like to thank them on behalf of our Management and Board.”
Australian Traveller Editor Elisabeth Knowles said, “These awards are voted for by the most important people in the industry – the travellers themselves. It’s a real mark of what travellers really think about travelling in Australia.”
Regional Express (Rex) is Australia’s largest independent regional airline operating a fleet of more than 40 Saab 340 aircraft on some 1,300 weekly flights to 36 destinations throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland. The Rex Group comprises Regional Express, air freight and charter operator Pel-Air Aviation and Dubbo-based regional airline Air Link, as well as the pilot academy Australian Airline Pilot Academy.
